Mastering the art of baking.

I grew up in a household of great chefs and bakers. I would say we are a group of culinary snobs. Growing up with fresh baked breads and desserts we were truly spoiled. Dad was a baker turned cook in later years and Mom grew up on a farm learning to cook in the good old fashioned way.  It wasn’t until the last several years that I realized just how deep our culinary snobbery ran… Going to dinner parties and potlucks I really found out that the mastery behind the culinary arts were not bestowed onto everyone.
Today I wanted to introduce someone that was given the gift. My youngest daughter was a self taught pastry chef before deciding to take it to the next level and attend school. Below are some examples of her work prior to going to College.

Everything shown above was her own creation. Each item was intricately designed and self taught. I can tell you that a lot of icing sugar and butter was sacrificed, but all was forgotten when she came out and said here Mom give this a try. We did try each and every item. And we critiqued them harshly because this was what she wanted to be and perfection was where she was going.
My daughter is going into her final year and watching her in the kitchen is absolutely magnificent, until she tells me I am preparing or storing things the wrong way. 🙄
It has been such an amazing journey raising kids. I was blessed with 2 daughters, completely opposite in their talents and I am so proud of them both!

Tell the cake boss to move over, there is a new kid coming to town….
