Has anyone noticed as you get into middle age that you require so much “stuff” for travelling? Once upon a time I used to be able to throw a minimal bag together. Yes, perhaps I was a little extra than some with my travelling needs bringing a bag for my makeup and hair spray. Now a days I find a basic overnight requires a full suitcase. What has happened here?!?
As I was unpacking my suitcase from a trip to visit my parents I was thinking to myself when did this happen?? When did I become so high maintenance and extra?!
Ok, dirty laundry makes sense. Into the wash. Hydrating shampoo and conditioner to keep the waves in the hair from being dry and frizzy. Special hair cream because ya beach waves are important. Hairspray, yeap that’s a must! Hydrating coconut hair mask, maybe not a must but needed sometimes. Makeup remover wipes, have to wash my face before bed. Hydrating face cream, hydrating under eye serum, hydrating body lotion. I am detecting a theme here. Hydrating lotion specifically for the feet, because well who wants dry feet?? Make up bag, oral hygiene bag, the list goes on.
Over the years more products are added and required to keep you looking your best. Gone are the days of throwing on deodorant and lip gloss and looking like you just stepped out of Vogue.
So husbands and boyfriends please leave space in your suitcases for our little extra things. Don’t complain, because let’s face it we middle aged ladies can be feisty and we have to get up an extra hour early to look as fresh as you do. Don’t even get me started on why wrinkles on men are attractive but hideous on woman. Please be patient with us!
We older ladies take time!!
